A warm welcome to Singapore Management University!

All successful applicants who have accepted SMU’s offer are required to register as students of the University before commencing their studies in August 2016. You must complete the registration formalities (both Part 1: Matriculate Online and Part 2: IDs Verification) according to the schedule below.

NOTE:
- This matriculation exercise is only applicable to students who are commencing their studies in August 2016.
- Applicants who have just accepted the offer would need to allow 3 working days before proceeding to perform online matriculation.

Step 1 – Apply for Student's Pass

In accordance with the Immigration Act, any foreigner who is not a Singapore Permanent Resident, and wishes to study at SMU, is required to apply for a Student's Pass.

Office of Undergraduate Admissions will send you an email on the Student's Pass application procedures.

Step 2 – Make Confirmation Fee (at least 2 days prior to Step 4)

Login to Applicant's Self Service (https://eservices.smu.edu.sg)
Navigation Path: Self-Service > Online Matriculation > Make Online Payment

Make non-refundable Confirmation fee* of S$207 via credit card** or AXS Payment Stations available island-wide. Kindly allow 2 working days for payment to be updated in the system. Please pay by 9 Aug 2016 (at the latest).

*One-time non-refundable fee of S$207 for Pre-Course Activities and Matriculation.
**The online credit card payment of confirmation fee can be made via Applicant's Self Service. You may check the payment status via Applicant's Self Service (Student Admission or Online Matriculation > View Payment Status).

 

Step 3 – Update / Verify Personal Data

Login to Applicant's Self Service (https://eservices.smu.edu.sg)
Navigation Path: Self-Service > Online Matriculation > Confirm Personal Data

Please take some time to confirm/update your personal data as captured in the official records. It is important for the University to maintain accurate data in case of emergencies.

Step 4 – Part 1: Matriculate Online

Note: International Students may proceed to matriculate online only after you have been notified of your Student's Pass Approval via email. Please email admissions@smu.edu.sg for enquiries on student's pass matters.

Please ensure that you have completed Step 1 and Step 2, at least 2 working days before you proceed with this step. Kindly ensure that all matriculation information is accurate.

IMPORTANT: For students below 18 years old, please print out the indemnity form for submission during Part 2: IDs Verification Day.

Part 1: ONLINE MATRICULATION

13 June 2016, 9.00am -  4 Jul 2016, 5.00pm

2nd Round of Online Matriculation
8 July 2016, 9.00 am - 12 Aug 2016, 5.00 pm

Please pay the non-refundable Confirmation Fee 2 working days before performing the online matriculation.

E.g. If you wish to matriculate on 21 July 2016, you will need to pay the Confirmation Fee by 19 July 2016.

Slowness may be experienced when a large number of students are trying to matriculate at the same time.Therefore, please matriculate early.

 

Step 5 – Activate SMU Computer Account

Login to Applicant's Self Service (https://eservices.smu.edu.sg)

Please remember your new SMU User ID and Password. You will require your SMU computer account to access SMU's network resources such as the student portal OASIS as well as the campus email.

Please check your SMU Email Account frequently so as not to miss out important information from the University. You must use your SMU Email Account henceforth for future email correspondences.  This will enable us to know that you are a bona fide matriculated student in order to reply to you.

You may login to Student Portal OASIS (https://oasis.smu.edu.sg) to complete Step 6 to 8

Step 6 – Upload Photograph

Navigation Path: OASIS > Home > Pre-Term Activities and Info > Upload Student Photograph

Please use the newly activated account and login to the student portal OASIS (you may only login after completing Step 5).

Applicants who have provided their photograph to SMU earlier will NOT need to re-submit, unless the photograph uploaded previously does not meet SMU's specification and is rejected (you will be notified via email). Approved photographs will be used for printing onto the SMU Student Card, which will be issued to you during the IDs Verification Day. Do note that once the photographs are approved, no changes are allowed.

All photographs must be submitted online by 29 July 2016, 5.00pm. (Applicable to students who Online Matriculate from 22 July 2016, 9.00 am - 29 July 2016, 5.00 pm)

All photographs must be submitted online by 12 Aug 2016, 5.00pm. (Applicable to students who Online Matriculate from 1 Aug 2016, 9.00 am - 12 Aug 2016, 5.00 pm)

Step 7 – Update Bank Information

In line with Singapore’s continuing effort towards productivity improvement, the University is moving towards electronic payments as the principal mode of transaction between students and the University. As such, all students matriculating from 2015 onwards are required to provide their Singapore based bank account details.

You will be required to furnish details for both the “Receiving Bank Account” and the “Paying Bank Account” . The “Receiving Bank Account” is the account that you would like to receive payment from the University. This could be in the form of Bursaries, Scholarships, Stipends, Expense claims and other forms of official payment. The “Paying Bank Account” is the bank account by which you would like to use to pay your school fees. Please do note that you can use the same bank account for Receiving and Paying.

1.        Steps to add “Receiving Bank Account” details

Please ensure that you have the following information on hand before filling up your “Receiving Bank Account” details

a.        Name of bank
b.        Your bank account number
c.        Your name as reflected in your bank statement or bank book
d.        A soft copy of your bank statement or bank book which shows your name and account number on your computer for upload – (For verification by Office of Finance)

Click on the Navigation path by order of: OASIS > Personal & Finances > Account > Maintain Bank Accounts > Add Receiving Bank Account > Fill in the relevant details > Submit


2.        Steps to add “Paying Bank Account” details

Please ensure that you have the following information on hand before filling up your “Paying Bank Account” details

a.        Name of payer’s bank
b.        Payer’s bank account number
c.        Payer’s name as reflected in their bank statement or bank book

You will also require access to a printer to print out the generated form once it has been generated.

Login to Student Portal OASIS (https://oasis.smu.edu.sg)

Click on the Navigation path by order of: OASIS Personal & Finances > Account > Maintain Bank Accounts > Add Paying Bank Account > Fill in the relevant details > Submit > Print GIRO Application Form (this might take a few minutes to process) Print the generated PDF document > Payer to sign the document with signature as per bank records > Submit the signed form

You can either submit the form during the ID Verification & Card Collection day or drop it into the Office of Finance drop box available at:

a.        The Concourse (Near SIS, Beside AXS machine)
b.        Lobby of the SMU Administration Building

Step 11 – Visit selected Raffles Medical Group clinic for Pre-Enrolment Medical Check-up

All students (both local and foreign) are required to undergo a COMPULSORY medical examination with Raffles Medical Group (RMG) in Singapore prior to starting your studies at SMU.

For students who matriculate between 13 June - 4 July 2016, kindly complete your medical check-up by  20 July 2016.

For students who matriculate between 8 July 2016 - 21 July 2016, please complete your medical check-up by 29 July 2016.

For students who matriculate between 22 July 2016 - 29 July 2016, please complete your medical check-up by 8 Aug 2016.

For students who matriculate between 1 Aug 2016 - 12 Aug 2016, please complete your medical check-up by 18 Aug 2016.

IMPORTANT: Matriculated students who do not turn up for the Main or Ad-Hoc “IDs Verification & Card Collection” exercises will have an administrative hold placed against them effectively from the 3rd week of the new term, which will result in them being barred from using standard e-services (such as register for courses/Finishing Touch workshops).

Step 15 – Register for Classes / Finishing Touch Programme
15.1 Register for Classes
 

At SMU, all undergraduate students register or enroll for classes via a bidding system called BOSS (Bidding Online System). Each term, the students are given e$ and e-pt, which they use to bid for courses and workshop. This empowers them to draw up their own timetable based on personal choices and study plan, subject to the constraints of curriculum requirements, and the supply and demand of classes.

15.2 Register for the Finishing Touch Programme
 

The Finishing Touch programme has been one of the distinguishing factors in the making of the SMU graduate. It prepares SMU undergraduates during the 4-year course of studies in the career management skills and gears students towards career success.

Administered by Dato' Kho Hui Meng Career Centre (DKHMCC), the FT programme consists of a series of Career Preparation & Enrichment workshops to prepare students for internships, job applications and necessary skills for future career success. As a graduation requirement, undergraduates are required to complete and achieve a PASS grade for all the seven compulsory workshops in Year One and Year Two.

Freshmen are required to complete both FTW101 and FTW102 in Year One, to subsequently be eligible to enroll for Year Two workshops (FTW201-205).

Step 16 – Attend Convocation
Convocation marks the start of your meaningful and memorable journey at SMU. Our faculty and student leaders will officially welcome you into the SMU family with pomp and celebration. Sit back and enjoy the dazzling and spectacular performances by SMU's very own performing arts groups. It will be an unforgettable evening for you and your family.
 
Convocation 2016 will be held on Friday 12 August, 6pm – 9pm, at Suntec Convention Centre, Level 6. Do note that attendance is compulsory for all freshmen. 
 
Freshmen will receive their Convocation invites at the Freshmen Orientation Camp (FOC) camps while parents/guardians will have their invites mailed to them.
