Dear Exchange and Visiting Students,

I am delighted that you have chosen SMU, and we look forward to introducing our diverse and dynamic campus to you. In the months ahead we will also be here to advise and assist you as you embark on this enriching experience. 

Singapore is a multicultural and modern Asian city, with seamless infrastructure and public transport. When you arrive, you are going to have a great time exploring Singapore, savouring gastronomical delights that you have never heard of before, and getting to know the locals. 

Despite this, when you finally arrive after months of planning, you may find yourself a bit overwhelmed. Living and studying in a new country and environment is never easy at the start – that’s why we have planned an immersive Orientation programme for you. Held right before the start of the academic term, you’ll get to know Singapore and SMU through fun activities while making new friends, and comfortably settle into life at SMU.

Soon, you may feel like a new person. Congratulations! You would have mastered living independently overseas, learned to work with diverse and multicultural team members, and now understand the world from a different perspective. 

SMU's education is also known for its highly interactive and collaborative approach to learning. SMU's pedagogy would have honed your presentation and collaborative skillsets, and our interdisciplinary focus would have sharpened your critical thinking. These are all invaluable skills held in high esteem by employers and will stand you in good stead professionally in the future.
