Pursuing an SMU postgraduate research programme may be a long journey of commitment but it is also the beginning of an enriching career, as many of our doctoral and Master by Research graduates have found diverse careers in academia and industry, both in Singapore and abroad. I hope you are as excited as I am, seeing each of you take this important step towards building a new experience as a postgraduate research student at SMU. This is the time for you to engage once again in a vibrant campus life while deepening your knowledge and expanding your networking and career opportunities.

SMU ensures that you do not walk this journey alone. We will carefully take you through every major milestone in your postgraduate research programme and curate activities or events that will strengthen networking, cohort building and collaborative opportunities for all research students across the various programmes, facilitated through the student and alumni groups. Ultimately, our research students will be poised to tackle challenges impacting businesses, societies and institutions across boundaries with confidence, and create significant outcomes.
