Payment of Fees & Payment Modes

You will receive an email notification when your tuition fee installments are posted to your student account. Please take note of the following important matters before making payments:

  • When submitting payments by Interbank Transfer/ Telegraphic Transfer/ credit card mailer form, please remember to submit the details of your payment and student information to the SMU Finance office via this link for their tracking as well, so that your payments to SMU can be properly identified and the received payments can be updated into your Statement of Accounts on a timely basis:
  1. Name of Student (Full name as per your SMU Student Card)
  2. Campus ID Number (Printed on your issued SMU Student Card) / Application Number (if you have not matriculated yet)
  3. Tel. / Mobile No. (Singapore local contact number)
  4. Payment amount (SGD)
  5. Purpose of payment (for example if it is for MITB tuition fees -- MITB tuition fee, AY2023-24, term 1 / term code=2310)
  • You are not eligible to use your CPF Education Scheme (CPF), the SMU Tuition Fee Loan (TFL) and Interbank GIRO for the deduction of tuition fees. 
  • Please ensure that you do not over-pay for your fees if you are deducting the Post Secondary Education Account (PSEA) and/or Skill Future Credit (SFC) claim amount or other subsidies from your tuition fee installment amounts to SMU.
  • Please note that there may be a penalty charge of S$100 (inclusive of prevailing taxes) if late payment is made after the due date, and students who fail to settle all outstanding payments after the final reminder from Office of Finance would not be allowed to sit for classes and examinations.

Here are the payment modes available for fee payments:
 

1. Online Payment 

After you have matriculated, you login to Student Portal OASIS (https://smu.sharepoint.com/sites/oasis) to make fee payments for tuition fees:

Navigation Path: OASIS > Finance & Admin > Account Inquiry > Make a Payment.

Note: Only Debit/Credit cards issued by Visa or Mastercard will be accepted. The Debit / Credit Card is also subjected to the maximum limit as granted by your bank.
 

2. Bank Transfer/Internet banking/Fast payment

Bank transfer options are strictly for Postgraduate Professional Programmes. Please indicate your SMU Campus ID Number (printed on SMU Student Card)/Application Number (if you have not matriculated yet) and name (if there is no restriction on the length of characters) clearly as part of the instructions to your bank when you make your fee payment and send a copy of your bank transfer confirmation to your Programme manager/Finance Office for timely record updates.

3. Additional Payment Methods Available for International Students

SMU has also partnered Convera, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (“ICBC”) and ICICI Bank (“ICICI”) to offer international students a variety of new payment options by Telegraphic Transfers. These payment methods are available through your student account via the “Fee Payment” application in the OASIS platform. Note: If you are using a Remittance form, under the Fund Transfer Charges field, please remember to select “OUR – Remitter to pay all charges”.

a) Convera

Payment solution:

Partnership with Convera to give international students and their families a simplified and seamless payment experience via Convera's GlobalPay for Students.

Features of Convera:

  • Pay in the currency of your choice and enjoy multiple payment options including: UnionPay and AliPay. Over the counter payment options are also available.
  • Compare your bill in your selected currency across the various available payments methods. Choose your preferred method and SMU will receive the funds in SGD.
  • Get real-time updates on payment status via text and email.

Disclaimers for Convera:

  • Depending on the payment method, it can take between 3 to 6 days for Convera to receive your funds. Convera will send your payment to SMU within 24 hours subsequent to their receipt, unless further information is required from you.
  • Your foreign currency quote provided by Convera is only valid for 72 hours.
  • Overseas fund transfer limit may apply, according to local rules and regulations.
  • All foreign exchange charges and other bank charges are imposed by Convera.  SMU does not collect and has no control over the charges.
  • Card payments by Visa or MasterCard are unavailable through Convera. Please select 'VISA/MASTERCARD (Debit/Credit card payment)' instead.

b) Industrial & Commercial Bank of China (ICBC)

Payment solution:

Partnership with Industrial and Commercial Bank of China ("ICBC") to give international students from China an online way to pay via ICBC's Cross Border E-Payment solution.

Features of ICBC:

  • Accessible through mobile and online internet banking.
  • Know your bill in RMB and SMU will receive the funds in SGD by the second international working day, subject to bank cutoff timings and bank holidays.
  • Track transfer status available online.

Disclaimers for ICBC:

  • Only China domestic ICBC personal internet banking users with e-token or U-Shield can access this service.
  • Overseas fund transfer limit applies, according to local rules and regulations.
  • All foreign exchange charges and other bank charges are imposed by ICBC. SMU does not collect and has no control over the charges.

c) ICICI Bank

Payment solution:

Partnership with ICICI Bank ("ICICI") for international students from India to make online remittances to SMU. 

Features of ICICI:

  • Account holders of ICICI can transfer money online to SMU.
  • Exchange rate will be confirmed at the time of initiating the transaction. Any bank charges are calculated and displayed upfront.
  • Know your bill in INR and SMU will receive the funds in SGD by the second international working day, subject to bank cutoff timings and bank holidays.
  • Track transfer status available online.

  • For resident Indians only.  
  • Overseas fund transfer limit applies, according to local rules and regulations.
  • The exchange rate is valid only if the ICICI receives the funds within the rate validity period.
  • All foreign exchange charges and other bank charges are imposed by ICICI. SMU does not collect and has no control over the charges.
