Optional Waiver Test For IS112 Data Management 

Who will take the test

• Open to School of Computing and Information Systems (SCIS) Freshmen of 2026 with prior Programming background, taking the Information Systems, Computer Science, Computing & Law or the Software Engineering programme.
• Open to non-School of Computing and Information Systems Freshmen of 2026 with prior Programming background, who have the intention to take a second major with SCIS.

To register, fill up the form by Monday, 23 September 2026:

Please use your SMU email (e.g. john.smith.2026@smu.edu.sg) to log into Google first in order to access the form. To do so, on Google’s login page, enter your SMU email (NOT SCIS email) without your password. You’ll then be re-directed to an SMU login page where you’ll be asked to enter your SMU email ID and password for authentication. Once this is done, you can access the form above.

Closed-book written test.

1. Database Design: ER modelling (week1.ppt, week2.ppt, week3.ppt), Logical Design (week4.ppt), Data Normalization (week5.ppt)
2. Database Implementation: SQL (week6.ppt, week7.ppt, week9.ppt, week10.ppt, and week11.ppt)

Note: In order to pass the waiver test, a student has to score at least 70%.
