Matriculation Matters

A warm welcome to Singapore Management University!

All successful applicants who have accepted SMU's offer are required to register as students of the University before commencing their studies in August 2025. Please take note of the important Matriculation deadlines for AY2025/2026 August intake and complete the registration formalities according to the deadlines provided. For more information, please refer to the respective section.

 

NOTE:

  • This matriculation exercise is only applicable to students who are commencing their studies in August 2025.
  • Applicants who have just accepted the offer would need to allow 3 working days before proceeding to perform online matriculation.

During Matriculation

You are expected to do the following steps via the Applicant's Self Service portal.

✅ Note: Certain steps require you to fulfil pre-requisites before proceeding, please ensure that you complete the necessary pre-requisite before you embark on that step.

Student Pass (Only for International Students)

 

 

Kindly refer to the microsite for important processes including instructions on Student's Pass Application (STP) and to register for Completion of Formalities (COF) as part of your documentation requirements on campus.

Make Admissions-related Fee Payment

Make one-time non-refundable admissions-related fees (i.e. Application Fee/Optional Fee/Programme Fee Deposit/Registration Fee) via online payment. Debit and credit cards issued by MasterCard and Visa are accepted. Kindly allow 2 working days for payment to be updated in the system e.g. If you wish to matriculate on 23 June 2025, you will need to pay the admissions-related fees by 18 June 2025.

You may check the payment status via Applicant's Self-Service (Student Admission or Online Matriculation > View Payment Status).

Verify/Update Personal Data

Please confirm your personal data as per your official identity documents. Personal data includes your official name, passport details, NRIC details and emergency contacts. 

If you need to update your personal data due to inaccuracies or new identity documents and you have not matriculated online, please email your respective SMU Graduate Programme Office. You will need to provide your latest official documents in the email to your respective SMU Graduate Programme Office for verification and update of your record.

It is important for the University to maintain accurate personal data of students in case of emergencies.

Activate SMU Computer Account And Password Reset

Please take note your new SMU Username and Password when you activate your SMU Computer Account. You will require your SMU credentials to access SMU's network resources such as the student portal OASIS as well as the campus email.

Do check your SMU Email Account via http://live.smu.edu.sg on a regular basis (after you have matriculated and activated your SMU Computer Account online) so as not to miss out on important information from the University, which will be sent only to your SMU email account. You must use your SMU Email Account for email correspondences to your school and SMU Offices after you have activated your SMU Computer Account. This allows SMU to verify that you are a genuine matriculated SMU student and to assist you with your query.

By registering for this service, students can reset their password online anytime, anywhere, if they have forgotten their password.

Upload photograph

Applicants who have provided their photograph to SMU earlier will not need to re-submit, unless the photograph uploaded previously does not meet SMU's requirements and is rejected (you will be notified via email of the rejected photograph). Approved photographs will be used for official records and for printing onto the SMU Student Card, which will be issued to you during SMU Student Card Collection. Once the photographs are approved, no changes are allowed.

Online Identity Verification - SG

All matriculated students are required to have their identity verified before they enroll at SMU. As part of SMU's digitalization efforts, we have integrated our student information system with the Singapore government's consent-based MyInfo for Singpass users, which removes the need for the manual verification of identity documents. Non-Singpass users will need to submit their identity documents online for manual verification.

After you have completed your Identity Verification, you will receive an email notification via your SMU Email account at a later date informing you of the SMU Student Card Collection sessions.

  2.  A photograph of yourself (selfie) holding your pink NRIC (this assures SMU that the ID holder is indeed the person that is enrolling to SMU, and you are currently holding the said ID in your possession.)

  2.  The ID captured must be original (not copy) and clear enough for SMU to be able to see your face in the NRIC and read the information therein (NRIC number, Name and Date of birth)

Completion of Formalities

Students with Student’s pass (STP) In-Principle Approval (IPA) letter issued between 1 June to 31 July must attend the scheduled Offsite Enrolment exercise (OSE) on campus for the Completion of Formalities (COF).  Please refer to the email sent by your respective SMU Graduate Programme Office to register for a time slot via the microsite for the Offsite Enrolment Exercise on campus.

  1. Your digital ICA’s Student Pass in Open Attestation (OA) format (Refer to ICA’s Digital Pass Leaflet for information on how to retrieve your digital pass and to download it as an OA file)
  2. A copy of your Passport (Bio data page)
  3. A photograph of yourself (selfie) holding your passport
    • This assures SMU that the passport holder is indeed the person that is enrolling to SMU, and you are holding the said passport in your possession.
    • Your face must be shown clearly and is not covered by the passport.
    • The passport captured in the selfie must be clear for SMU to read the information therein (Passport number, Name, Nationality and Date of birth).
    • Do not edit or manipulate the selfie photograph.

Step 4Upon submission, SMU will verify your selfie, the documents that you have submitted during the ID verification process as well as your uploaded photograph as described under "Upload Photograph".

Note: International students who are overseas and are unable to convert their IPA letter to the ICA student pass/MOM work pass as yet should continue with the other/remaining activities as outlined in the matriculation webpage. Students may complete this Online Identity Verification step after the issuance of their ICA Student pass. Ad hoc arrangements will be made for these students to collect their SMU student card.

Update Bank Information

In line with Singapore’s continuing effort towards productivity improvement, the University is moving towards electronic payments as the principal mode of transaction between students and the University. As such, all students matriculating  are encouraged to provide their Singapore based bank account details.

You will need to setup your “Receiving Bank Account” in OASIS . The “Receiving Bank Account” is the account that you would like to receive payment from the University. This could be in the form of Bursaries, Scholarships, Stipends, Expense claims and other forms of official payment. Please note that the receiving bank must be under your name.  It could be a joint account but student must be one of the account holder.

Note: The “Paying Bank Account” is not applicable for Postgraduate Professional Programmes students.

Steps to add “Receiving Bank Account” details

Please ensure that you have the following information on hand before filling up your “Receiving Bank Account” details in OASIS:

  1. Name of bank
  2. Your bank account number
IMPORTANT:
  • Submission of bank details is required before the term commences.
  • Only Singapore-based bank accounts are accepted.
  • Please note that only one Receiving Bank Account can be submitted at any point in time.
  • Payment will only be made to bank account. Credit card is not allowed.
  • Please ensure correct account number is provided to prevent delay in processing. You can use the same bank account for Receiving (from SMU) and Paying (to SMU).
