Pre-Enrolment Medical Examination (Singaporean & SPR)

All students (both local and international) are required to undergo a COMPULSORY medical examination with The Clinic Group in Singapore before they start their studies at SMU. Please refer to the list of The Clinic Locations here.

The medical examination period will begin from 1 June 2023, and students should seek to complete it by 7 July 2023. The medical examination is an important part of the matriculation process.

The cost of the SMU Pre-Enrolment Medical Examination will be borne by students. Payment is to be made at The Clinic.

For Singapore Citizen and Singapore Permanent Resident
(Note: SMU Pre-Enrolment Medical Examination Form will be provided at The Clinic)
Pre-Enrolment Medical Examination
(i) for Local Students not required to complete Chest X-ray
S$32 (inclusive of GST)
Pre-Enrolment Medical Examination
(ii) for Local Students required to complete Chest X-ray
$40.50 (inclusive of GST)

At The Clinic (you may go to any of the clinics by The Clinic Group), please inform the counter staff that you are a SMU student and present your NRIC or Passport.

IMPORTANT Information

1. The Medical Examination covers several areas as such the following:

  • Declaration of Past Medical History
  • Urine Test (Protein & Glucose)
  • Physical Examination (height & weight measurements, systems review)
  • Eye Test (visual acuity & colour vision)
  • Hearing, Pulse Rate & Blood Pressure Reading
  • Chest X-Ray (filmeless)* 

At the end of the examination, an SMU Pre-enrolment Medical Examination report will be issued directly to the SMU Office of Registrar.

*For students who are required to complete Chest X-ray. Please note that The Clinic will assign the medical imaging centre based on proximity to you.

 

2. As part of the compulsory attendance of the SMU pre-enrolment medical examination with The Clinic Group, your consent for The Clinic to release the medical results directly to the Singapore Management University Office of the Registrar is integral to completing the matriculation process.

  • Your medical examination results will be received by the SMU Office of Registrar directly from The Clinic.

 

3. Appointments for Pre-enrolment Medical Examination

  • SMU students should make an appointment for their medical check-up via the following URL: https://theclinicgroup.com.sg/university-appointments/
  • If you do not book an appointment, the Clinic reserves the right to turn away walk-ins depending on the existing queue and appointments at The Clinic. 
  • Students are expected to adhere to their appointment time. Being late for their appointment will result in longer waiting time at The Clinic.
  • Calling The Clinic to reschedule appointments is not allowed. For rescheduling of appointments, please reply the appointment confirmation email with a request to reschedule.
  • If you are feeling unwell, you are strongly advised to reschedule your appointment until after you have been treated and have recovered. You may be asked to delay your medical examination if you are unwell during your appointment.

4. For female students, please do your SMU pre-enrolment medical examination at least 3 days after menstruation.
