College of Integrative Studies

Dear Students,  

Greetings and a warm welcome to the College of Integrative Studies. Congratulations on officially becoming a part of our close-knit community.  

As you begin your first year with us, you will embark on an exhilarating journey of discovery, where you will explore the Core Curriculum and courses offered from the CIS and SMU’s Schools and encounter a whirlwind of disciplinary and interdisciplinary insights as you engage with our world-class faculty. CIS faculty are masters of their craft, and I have no doubt that they will captivate and inspire you as they introduce you to new modes of understanding and perceiving. 

Many of you will discover interests, talents, passions that may have been latent within you. Through interactions with your peers and faculty within and outside of the classroom, you will become part of a community of scholars and visionaries for the future, and come to exude that distinctive, ineffable quality of a CIS student that we are so proud of.   

We call ourselves a College because we believe in in the power of human connection and collaboration as the lodestar of learning. Outside of the classroom, we have curated a series of Fireside Chats with industry captains and influencers, as well as social activities (with a lot of good, free food)  to keep you apprised of the latest trends in the professions, and also to support your holistic development as young adults, build lasting friendships with your cohort, and to unleash the best version of you.
