The 21st century is a time of rapid change and extraordinary challenges. Globalisation has dramatically altered our lives and continues to shape it with significant impact on the economy, people and politics. Fast expanding digitalisation and relentless technology advances have only aided and exacerbated these changes. Together, these conditions present exciting opportunities for growth but also increasingly sophisticated problems for individuals, businesses and governments. 

At the Yong Pung How School of Law, our mission is to educate lawyers who will ride these waves of change. Today, lawyers are engaging in a fast-expanding range of services and activities. They are not just advocates and solicitors but also legal designers, innovators and entrepreneurs who will redefine the nature and reach of law and justice. Our programmes prepare our students well for these varied roles through a combination of innovative curricula and distinctive pedagogy. We seek not only to deliver rigorous training in the skills and knowledge essential to good lawyering but also expose students to the most current issues in emergent or nascent areas such as those pertaining to technology and sustainability. Our curriculum is intentionally infused with multi- and interdisciplinary elements to ensure students appreciate the role of law in facilitating and integrating social as well as business innovations. Students will experience learning as a dynamic and ongoing process that occurs both in and outside the classroom – through stimulating discourse, legal clinics, internships, overseas learning missions and student exchanges. Most importantly, our students will be guided by a group of distinguished international faculty as well as leading practitioners in key areas of practice.
